Campus Ministry

Alpha Omega Campus Ministry exists to reach and nurture college students and churches on and near college campuses.  Alpha Omega seeks to mobilize & train them to put their faith into action through evangelism efforts on campus and benevolence ministry in their community as well as intentionally building a support network of campus churches & chaplains.  College is perhaps one of the most influential times in a young adult’s life. Bad decisions during college have a greater long-term impact than decisions made in earlier adolescence.  Each year students from local churches are entering college to find that they are away from their parents and disconnected from a local congregation.  Here are some alarming statistics:

  • 89 – 93% of students abandon their faith in college, some for a season, and some for a lifetime. . .
  • Secular professors may sometimes be antagonistic towards Christian morals and virtues in an attempt to undermine a student’s Christian values.
  • Secular humanism has replaced ALL other religions as the “philosophy of choice” by a large number of professors and “intellectuals” in academia

Church of God Youth and Discipleship, in partnership with COG Chaplains Commission, sponsor Campus Ministry Conferences. These conferences offer training and endorsement for “Certified Campus Outreach Churches” in strategic locations to reach our students at their colleges and universities. We also offers credentials for “College Campus Chaplains” providing an opportunity for called leaders to be empowered and recognized on campuses and in our denomination.

Alpha Omega also is sponsors the following events for college students: Student Leadership Retreats (SYNC); Weekend service projects in major cities; Global Expedition / STEP Mission trips; and Church Planting training specifically designed for campuses.  We also have an Alpha Omega membership club where students can become better connected. “Free Membership” includes: access to newsletters; communications and publications; articles on defending our faith; and opportunity to attend student leadership training and conferences.

STATE YOUTH and DISCIPLESHIP DIRECTORS can help by connecting interested churches and leaders to our Campus Ministry Conferences. Another potential area of assistance is to establish a “Regional Task Force Team” and or to designate a State Representative for your region to help perpetuate campus ministry. Another crucial area is to help is to invite college students in your state to sign up for Alpha Omega.
