The Mission
THE MISSION is a movement of Christian young adults dedicated to serving Jesus with their lives in their local communities and throughout the world. Students with THE MISSION devote a year or more of their lives to DISCIPLESHIP, LEADERSHIP, and MINISTRY with the simple purpose to “know God and to make Him known.” THE MISSION is a full-time, residential, collegiate ministry where students learn through both academic and practical ministry experiences.
When THE MISSION began in the Church of God in 1998, our main focus was giving young adults a one year intense discipleship experience in the context of authentic Christian community where they could discover the unique call of God on their lives and explore ways to share the love of Jesus to the world. Today, we also offer quality academics and accredited degree programs along with leadership and life skills training and ministry internships. In addition, THE MISSION also provides discipleship-character formation and opportunities to serve people, share Christ, and impact the world.
Each MISSION program has unique qualities and structure. However, our core values of Christ, Character, Community, Calling, and Culture form the bonds of unity and the foundation of our commitment to one another. There are currently 6 MISSION programs officially endorsed and recognized by the Church of God International Department of Youth & Discipleship: Mission Baltimore, Mission Florida, Mission Georgia, Mission Texas, Mission Uruguay and Mission Mexico.
THE MISSION’s discipleship and training programs aim to better equip Christian young adults to serve as ministers of the Gospel, cultural missionaries, and community leaders in a variety of fields. Through THE MISSION’s partnerships with fully accredited Christian colleges and universities, individuals can pursue a degree while experiencing hand-on ministry on a daily basis. It is within the reach of a MISSION student to earn a Associates of Arts degree in Ministry while participating in the program.
THE MISSION academic training takes place within THE MISSION community and combines classroom teaching with ongoing discipleship, leadership training and practical service. Learning is accelerated by hands-on application in ministry internships, community outreaches, and volunteer service situations.
MISSION programs vary widely in their size and surroundings, depending on the location. Applications for individual programs are handled by each program director. If you are interested in applying to a specific MISSION program, contact them directly for more information.
